Some local news...

Looks like Dean Roper is getting off to a good start on priority #1: Eliminate UNC Hospitals' red ink

UNC Hospital's are also trying to extend discounts to the uninsured, which is good news (in general, anyway... any attempt to address the problem at this point at this level is stop-gap at best. More on this in a later post)

Well, the N&O has a little problem with budgeting $1 million for PR over the next three years to enhance UNC Health Care's national reputation.

However, I think it's a smart move. I agree with them that there are probably more cost efficient ways to get the job done though.

But in the end, I imagine that being seen as a national power in health care is only going to augment earnings, attract top researchers/clinicians, and provide more resources over the long haul.
