The Purge of the Non-Believers continues
And so it continues.
3 members of the Ethics Committee get booted... and they just happen to be the three who voted to reprimand DeLay. Even the Ethics Committee has a requirement to drink the Kool-Aid.
Istook also got booted, but he has cherry Kool-Aid all over his lips, so what gives? He forgot he must follow requirement #2: not only must you be willing to whore yourself for the party, but must also not get caught or, failing that, generate bad press.
Silly Istook.
Update: Oh this is nice... from the Center for American Progress:
Hefley's replacement, Rep. Richard Hastings (R-WA) is close to DeLay, and the two other new members of the Ethics Committee – Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) and Tom Cole (R-OK) – both helped fatten up DeLay's legal defense fund by contributing $15,000 to the almost $1 million treasure chest. In fact, "nearly two-thirds of the money [in the fund] came from members of Congress or their political action committees" in the months leading up to committee assignments.
