Update: The plot thickens... via the Center for American Progress:

In Wednesday's Progress Report, we noted that Staples, Inc., was withdrawing their advertising from television stations controlled by Sinclair Media. We reported that Staples' decision was influenced by a coalition of progressive groups led by Media Matters to protest the rampant conservative bias on Sinclair stations. This story was featured in major newspapers around the country. Yesterday, Staples issued a press release, claiming their "media buying process with Sinclair Broadcast Group stations has recently been misrepresented by an organization [Media Matters] with no affiliation to Staples." But The Progress Report has learned Staples officials reviewed and edited Media Matters press release -- in draft and in final form -- before it was issued Tuesday.
