Political Animal unleashed!

In case you haven't heard yet, the House Republicans reversed a rule that says anyone in a leadership positions who's indicted of a crime has to step down because Tom DeLay is going to be indicted sometime soon on charges of breaking Texas state fundraising rules. Josh Marshall takes note of this, and invokes Lord Acton.

Yeah, this all stinks, but I am not really surprised... par for the course, really. But what isn't standard is Kevin Drum's response to this bit of news, which endorses a scorched earth policy.

Wow... it has always seemed to me that Kevin is a very reasonable and pragmatic guy who favors dispassionate and relatively moderate politics. Is he snapping? Has he finally reached the point where he says "Screw it" and pulls out all the stops against these jokers? How far is Kevin willing to take this line of thought? To the same extent as the Republicans did with Clinton?

Am I being overly dramatic over the reaction of one of the most prominent bloggers? Do I really think that writing so many questions in a row is interesting?
