Is Dubya a Lannister?
George R. R. Martin is the author of one of the best fantasy series I have ever read (and challenges Tolkien himself for the top spot). Anyway, it looks like he is channeling his own version of DHP (hit the "About A Feast for Crows" link... thanks goes to GH)
I don't really read into this too much... some of the authors of books I have really enjoyed don't share my views in the least. Orson Scott Card is really out on the right edge, and Tom Clancy isn't my favorite guy either (although he does get props for recognizing that Bush is a mess and for protesting the decision to replace Alec Baldwin with Harrison Ford for the part of Jack Ryan) However, it is pleasant to see that someone whose work you admire shares opinions with you on non-related topics, particularly when they can turn phrases like "this was a victory for bigotry and fear, a mandate bought with lies."
Update: Upon further reflection, GRRM's "A Tale of Ice and Fire" series has some interesting superficial parallels to the world's current situation... the evil, inept, but somehow powerful Lannisters as the Bushies (with great Rovian characters like Peter Baelish... yes, I know he's technically not a Lannister); the dutiful Snows as the Dems who strive for good but often fail due to blindness to certain political realities of the world; the Greyjoys as several countries and entities who rape and pillage while larger powers are otherwise occupied... I could go on. Post the crude parallels you can see in the comments section (the winner will get a shout-out on this illustrious blog in a future post)
