A word on the Pope

Ok, I haven't said anything on the Pope, not because I don't think it is big news but mainly because I don't really care too much... not only do I have a visceral reaction to the hierarchical nature of the Catholic Church, but I am not very happy with this Pope in particular due to his role in re-entrenching most of the other things I hate about his church such their sexism towards women in the church and in general, views on contraception and homosexuals, and turning a blind eye to the buggery in the ranks of their priests.

But all that aside, this is the big thing I wanted to comment on... how retarded is that? I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of American Catholics would not be able to recite John Paul II's good works, let alone the names and records of three other popes. How about talking to some historians who specialize in the area or some credible theologians rather than running a poll to the ignorant masses just a day after their big kahuna died? What the hell is that poll supposed to be telling us? The only thing it tells me is that CNN is getting more and more irrelevant by the second...
